Odin Mobilized at the Arroyo Grande Creek Channel Emergency Levee Rehabilitation Project Phase 2B

Oceano, California. Odin is pleased to announce the mobilization of the Arroyo Grande Creek Channel Emergency Levee Rehabilitation Project Phase 2B. Odin’s efforts will strengthen the levee system along the Arroyo Grande Creek Channel to prevent future flooding events and protect the surrounding communities. The need for improvements was highlighted in early 2023, when multiple breaks in the levee caused flooding in neighborhoods and farmlands in Oceano, California.

Odin will construct four hydraulic barriers made of slag cement-cement-bentonite (SCCB) slurry at specific damaged locations along the north and south levees. These barriers will be installed by excavating vertical-walled slurry trenches along the levee centerlines and filling them with SCCB slurry, creating impermeable walls to a depth of 20 to 25 feet.

Once the hydraulic barriers are in place, the project team will reinforce the levee crest with geogrid material and a six-inch layer of compacted Class 3 aggregate base to create a stable patrol road. This road will not only enhance access for maintenance but also provide a strong, reliable structure for future flood prevention efforts. The project is expected to be completed by November 2024, marking a significant step towards securing the safety and well-being of the local communities.
