Eastside Bypass Levee Improvements
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The levee improvements project at the eastside bypass began in mid-May of 2020. Odin, along with Mozingo and RA Nemetz, were awarded and assigned to replace a total of 6 culverts and install a soilbentonite wall on the existing levee for flood protection.
Given the short window of time to perform the contracted work, being efficient and staying on schedule was of the utmost importance. The project was completed in one season which was before the expected completion date of two seasons. During construction, the team was able to stay safe and be productive despite the restrictions set by COVID-19 guidelines and the valley fever infection in the area. The project was completed in November of 2020 with SWPPP inspections continuing until May 2021.
Project Highlights:
• 10,100 LF of soil-bentonite cutoff Wall • 5 24” culverts replaced with flap gates and headwalls • 1 36” culvert replaced with trash rack, riser, and headwalls • Completed a two-season project in one season
